Actress Marlee Matlin, Lakers’ Jordan Hill Joins Thousands In ‘Race For The Cure’

ELYSIAN PARK ( — Academy Award-winning actress Marlee Matlin and LA Lakers’ Jordan Hill joined thousands of others Saturday at the 18th Annual Susan G. Komen L.A. County Race for the Cure®.

The annual event to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research got underway at 8:30 a.m. at Dodger Stadium.

Both Matlin and Hill, ambassadors of the race, have been personally impacted by breast cancer. Matlin told CBS2’s Joy Benedict that her mother and sister are both survivors.

“They’ve been through it all and we’re just all here for the same reason. To recognize … that it is an important cause,” she said, adding that finding a cure is essential.
